See also the book recommendation and the interview: <a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/chapter\/10.1007\/978-1-59745-507-7_12\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">&#8220;The aging eye&#8221;.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then I evaluated and compared a diagnostic tool, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19320301\">optical coherence tomography (OCT),<\/a> which provides a very detailed visualization of the intraretinal layers and changes in the center of the retina (macula) and thus became essential in the diagnosis of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19029035\">age-related macular degeneration (AMD)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/20045567\">epiretinal membranes<\/a> (see also: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/17867800\">reference 2<\/a>) and macular holes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, studies on outcomes after surgery in these patients were conducted and promising results were reported after combined surgery (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/18812129\">cataract surgery combined with vitrectomy<\/a>, see also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19485291\">reference 2<\/a>) using the newest technologies.<\/p>\n<p>I was awarded the teaching authorization for Ophthalmology and Optometry as Associate Professor on the basis of my thesis on &#8220;Latest findings in the treatment of retinal detachment and macular surgery&#8221; and <a href=\"https:\/\/augenchirurgie.org\/en\/kompetenz\/forschung\/\">my numerous scientific publications<\/a>.<br \/>\nBased on my scientific work and experience I am appoined Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at <a href=\"https:\/\/eye.weillcornell.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cornell University<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lead authorships:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Falkner-Radler C.I.<\/em><\/strong> Vollst\u00e4ndige Visuserholung trotz Maklua-off-Amotio.
